Maybe you have a locked place for your weed at home. Then friends come over, someone leaves a bag beside the couch, and the storage plan stops at the front door.
That's the gap worth checking. Cannabis doesn't always stay where you normally keep it, especially when the house is busy.
Check the places people put things down
Think about coat pockets, overnight bags, the coffee table, and the kitchen counter. A high shelf might seem out of the way, but it isn't the same as locked storage. Children and pets shouldn't be able to get to cannabis or mistake it for something else.
Health Canada recommends locked storage, keeping cannabis out of sight and reach, and separating edibles from ordinary food. Keep the original packaging, too. Moving something into a regular biscuit tin or candy jar makes it easier for another person to misread what they're looking at.
Make it easy for guests to get it right
Tell visitors where belongings that contain cannabis need to go. A quick “Please keep that locked away; the kids can reach this table” is clearer than hoping everyone notices the same risks.
Check again when people leave. A forgotten packet under a cushion is still a problem after the gathering is over. Good storage is partly about the container and partly about what happens on an ordinary, distracted evening.
